Sunday School

Sunday School Mission Statement

Success at Friendly Community Baptist Church is defined by how effectively our Sunday School is organized and functioning.

Sunday School is optimally made up of 3-10 couples,or 6-20 individuals of the same gender, with the function of personally encouraging and challenging people in their relationship with God and each other.

We believe the Sunday School is the best place where sustained life change can occur.

It’s in the Sunday School where people study God’s Word together and are in an environment to tackle the tough questions and challenges of life.

It’s also where they pray and care for one another and are missed if they do not show up.

Practically speaking, there will never be a way for the staff or pastor to personally minister to everyone who attends our church.

That’s why we place such high premium on group life.

It’s how we effectively minister at Friendly Community Baptist Church of Burgaw.

A Sunday School Class meets for 12 – 18 months and then multiplies into one or more new classes with the addition of new members along the way.

Goal

To create an open group environment that…

• Is Foundational—the fundamental beginning place for involving adults in doing the work of the Great Commission. It is an entry point for unbelievers and new believers and is foundational for believers to mature as they study God’s Word and learn to serve.

• Is Ongoing—meets regularly for Bible study and builds ongoing relationships with class members and prospects. There is a plan for ongoing ministry, outreach, and fellowship.

• Is Evangelistic—has as its primary objective to win the lost. There is a climate that encourages believers to invite, engage, and share Christ with the lost.

Vision

Since we believe that the small group environment is so important in the accomplishment of our mission to lead people to Christ and in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, our vision is for 100% of our worship attendees to be actively involved in a Sunday School Class.
